I love the Northwest; the ocean, the forests, the culture. You can't walk out of the door here without feeling the timelessness of everything. First Nations have lived here for thousands and thousands of years and that's the core.... First Nations and Nature; everything revolves around that.
My family came here in the early 1900's after passing through to the Yukon a few times during the Gold-rush.
I spent the balance of my business life in forestry and always had a passion for being in the woods.
Growing up here was very "Lord of the Rings/Harry Potter" - lots of atmosphere, lots of imagination; tree forts deep in the forest, magical concoctions from the plants, playing in little streams..... My family had a boat and we spent countless hours roaming around on the beaches, collecting shells and rocks, roasting hot-dogs and exploring.
I was always fascinated by the plants growing in the woods and I guess in some way that's what eventually led me to developing WILD so many years later!!
